WireMapper: Privacy Policy

Overview

WireMapper is a browser-based AV signal-flow diagramming tool operated by Single Thread LLC. This policy explains what information we collect, how it is used, and how it is protected. We collect only what is necessary to provide the service and do not sell your data.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

Your email address
A hashed password (we never store your password in plain text)

Project Data

Diagrams and projects you create are stored in the cloud so you can access them from any browser. This includes device layouts, wire configurations, labels, and any text you enter into a diagram. Custom stencils you create are also stored in your account.

Payment Information

Donations are processed by Stripe. WireMapper does not store your payment card details. These are handled entirely by Stripe and subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy. We receive only a confirmation that a payment was made.

Usage Data

We do not currently use third-party analytics. If analytics are added in the future, this policy will be updated before they go live.

How We Use Your Information

Email address: to identify your account and, if needed, to send account-related communications (password reset, significant service changes). We do not send marketing email.
Project data: to store and sync your diagrams across sessions. Your projects are private and not visible to other users.
Payment confirmation: to record that a donation was received. No payment details are stored.

Data Storage

Account and project data is stored in Supabase, a managed cloud database platform. Data is stored in the United States. Supabase maintains industry-standard security practices; full details are available in their security documentation.

Row-level security is enforced at the database level: your projects can only be accessed by your account.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties, except:

Supabase: stores your account and project data as described above
Stripe: processes donations; receives only the amount and a session reference
Legal requirements: if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of users

Cookies

WireMapper uses a single session cookie set by Supabase to keep you logged in. No advertising or tracking cookies are used.

Data Retention

Your account and project data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data will be deleted from our systems within 30 days.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the data we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your account and all associated data

EU / EEA users: If you are located in the European Union or European Economic Area, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

Right of access: you can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
Right to rectification: you can ask us to correct inaccurate data
Right to erasure: you can request deletion of your account and all associated data
Right to data portability: you can request your project data in a machine-readable format
Right to restrict processing: you can ask us to limit how we use your data
Right to object: you can object to our processing of your data
Right to lodge a complaint: you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority

Lawful basis for processing: We process your data on the basis of contractual necessity. It is required to provide you with the service you signed up for. We do not process your data for any other purpose without your explicit consent.

Data transfers: Your data is stored in the United States via Supabase. Supabase participates in standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission for international data transfers. A Data Processing Agreement (DPA) is in place with Supabase covering EU data requirements.

Cookies: WireMapper uses a single session cookie strictly necessary to keep you logged in. No tracking or advertising cookies are used. Under GDPR, strictly necessary cookies do not require consent, so no cookie banner is displayed. If this changes (for example, if analytics are added), this policy will be updated and appropriate consent mechanisms will be put in place before any non-essential cookies are set.

Data retention: We retain your data only for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time via the Support page. Deleted data is removed from our systems within 30 days.

Children

WireMapper is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of WireMapper after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
